Zoe returns to ED to everyone's surprise and has to deal with two casualties - a girl who had been attacked on the Farmead estate and Lofty, who was knocked off his bike by her car door. Honey takes a shine to the returning consultant.
Meanwhile, a young boy finds his biological mother's house, only to find that she has had another child and have the door slammed in his face. While cycling away in tears, he is hit by a van and is rushed to the ED with his adoptive mother.
DCI Christine Simmons, after leaving the ED after a girl had been attacked on the Farmead estate, finds the culprit and chases him down. She receives a nasty kick to the face but yet, she manages to arrest him.
Concurrently, Connie speaks with Hayley Blake, the daughter of a patient who died in Connie's care. After the talk, Zoe starts to assume that Connie is not coping and that she was only called back because of that but the latter dismisses those assumptions.
At reception, Ash queries Big Mac about Dixie's actions when taking his patient to the ED, only to lead to Dixie confronting him about not only his patient but Jeff's death, going so far as to her saying that Ash should have been the one who died, not Jeff.
Later, when Zoe's shift is over, she returns to a boathouse where she is greeted by Dylan - who has prepared food and wine for her - and his dog.
